Your fabric softener doesn’t make your clothes soft, it coats them in toxic chemicals to trick your senses.
After reading this you will never fall for the scam of fabric softeners again, and instead know how to get your clothes feeling softer, smelling great and lasting longer.
We are led to believe that by the name, fabric softener, that these products should actually soften the fabric…. Well, here is a myth that we are about to bust….
The stunning majority of fabric softeners actually do not actually soften fabric. They’re chemically engineered to leave a synthetic film on your fabrics: towels, bedding, pillows, etc. to give you the perception of softness.
They do this by leaving silicon or other types of synthetic-chemical film so that your hands just slide off your clothes.
If you ever used a conventional, store-bought, goopy, slimy fabric softener, remember that time when you got out of the shower, you just had this really nice, hot shower, and you grab a brand new, dry towel from your linen closet.
You put that towel on you, and it almost seems to slide off of you. You’re really not getting dry, and you’re wondering why you’re not getting dry. The reason why you’re not getting dry is that the pores of those towels are completely clogged with synthetic chemicals.
This happens a lot even at hotels. If you’re at a hotel and the towels smell so fragrant and you’re not getting dry, it’s because those towels are just absolutely drenched in synthetic chemicals.
They’re designed to do a few things, not only give the appearance of softness by creating a silicon barrier on the fabrics, but they’re also designed to leave ultraviolet light brighteners.
That’s why they’re typically blue or green, to trick your eyes into believing that your fabrics are actually brighter than they really are. They also are designed to leave a film of fragrances to trick your nose into believing that your clothes are actually cleaner than they are through fragrances and toxic perfumes.
Here are some friendly ingredients you’ll commonly find in your store-bought softener and known health and environmental concerns associated with them:
Cationic Surfactants – respiratory effects, general systemic/organ effects, developmental/endocrine/reproductive effects;
Fragrance – Skin irritation/allergies/damage, acute aquatic toxicity, respiratory effects, biodegradation;
Dimethyl Siloxanes And Silicones – developmental/endocrine/reproductive effects
Diethyloxyester Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride (DEEDMAC) – respiratory effects; acute aquatic toxicity, developmental/endocrine/reproductive effects;
Benzisothiazolinone – acute aquatic toxicity; skin irritation/allergies/damage, developmental/endocrine/reproductive effects, biodegradation
Formic Acid – skin irritation/allergies/damage, respiratory effects
Okay, you surely get it by now… using fabric softener is extremely unsafe. Never use this around children, considering almost every ingredient in the leading brand has the side effects of developmental/endocrine/reproductive damage.. stop before its to late!
Another reality is that these chemicals are also a breeding ground for bacteria. Ever wonder why after one use of your towel that was recently washed and rinsed in a fabric softener has a really funky, nasty smell?
It’s because the pores of your fabrics are drenched and clogged with these toxic chemicals which create a breeding ground for chemically resistant bacteria.
This is a perfect example of the cleaning industry literally CREATING the problem they are offering to solve so that they can sell you more products…pretty evil crap if you ask me!
We decided we needed to do something about this, so we created MyGreenFIlls Final Rinse.
The reason why we call it a rinse and not a softener is because our products are engineered using plant-based ingredients to literally rinse away hard water deposits, which are the main contributor to crunchy or scratchy towels.
They also rinse away any remaining stains or organic material, and any chemical residue that might be left behind in prior washes that prevents your clothes from being soft or smelling clean.
Additionally, it will lower the pH of the water very nicely, which will totally neutralize hard water deposits, and leave the fibers of your clothing, towels, and bedding naturally soft. It softens your fabrics naturally by creating the perfect environment to soften and clean, and not by leaving a chemical film on them like all of our store-bought, toxic, goopy competitors.
You can’t fight chemicals with chemicals, you simply need to rinse them away.
You won’t believe how soft your clothes can be without the use of synthetic chemical coatings or other dirty tricks.
